The Opportunity

Working directly with the CFO and the broader finance team, you will gain hands-on experience across a complex multi-entity environment, contributing to core financial reporting, process improvement, and system enhancement initiatives.

The position offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious early-career accountant to develop technical accounting skills, gain commercial experience, and progress towards a professional accounting qualification.

Remuneration: $75,000 - $85,000 per annum (excluding Super).

What You’ll Be Doing

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely month-end reporting across multiple entities.

  • Prepare and process journals, accruals, and other accounting adjustments.

  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.

  • Support the maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts.

Management Reporting

  • Support variance analysis by identifying and investigating significant movements in financial results.

  • Gather supporting information and commentary from operational stakeholders as required.

Audit & Compliance

  • Prepare audit-ready working papers and supporting documentation for external audits.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Support continuous improvement of financial governance and reporting processes.

Accounts Receivable Support

  • Monitor customer accounts and outstanding balances.

  • Assist with collection activities and follow-up of overdue accounts.

  • Support cash flow management through timely debtor reporting.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting efficiency.

  • Support the implementation and enhancement of financial systems and automation initiatives.

  • Contribute to process documentation and standardisation across the Group.

General Finance Support

  • Provide support across the finance team as required.

  • Participate in ad hoc analysis, reporting, and project work.

  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders across the business.

Skills We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in an accounting or finance role.

  • Exposure to a multi-entity business environment.

  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.

  • Experience within engineering, construction, professional services, or project-based industries.
