Unidex Health care are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the health care field specializing in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

Due to an increase in rostered hours, we are seeking experienced and reliable Support Workers to support a male participant based in Thornlands. The participant is living with a spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury and requires person-centred care and support during an important transition period as they relocate to Brisbane with their pregnant partner. With their first baby due to arrive soon, the participant would greatly benefit from dedicated external support to promote independence, wellbeing, and confidence as they adjust to becoming a first-time parents.

Shift times:

  • This will be a Monday - Sunday roster with the hours due to increase to a 24/7 roster over the next few weeks.

Duties:

  • Assistance with personal care
  • Bowel care including digital stimulation and enema's
  • Catheter care
  • Assistance with transfers
  • Assistance with domestic tasks and meal preparation
  • Medication management
  • Assistance with supporting parental care and additional tasks
  • Community access including attending PT, Hand OT and Hydrotherapy each week

Skills & Experience

  • Australian Driver's License
  • Certificate 3 in Individual Support minimum requirement
  • Current National Police Clearance within 12 months
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Yellow Card
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • NDIS Support effective communication module
  • Must hold a current 006- assist clients with medication certificate or willing to obtain
  • Current whooping cough vaccination as there will be a new baby in the home soon

The successful candidate will provide respectful, empathetic, and consistent support tailored to the participant's individual goals and daily needs. This role would suit someone who is proactive, patient, and passionate about empowering people to live independently while supporting positive family outcomes.
