THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a pivotal senior role within our Structural team, supporting the Structural Team Lead to manage projects end-to-end while driving technical excellence and mentoring the next generation of engineers. You will bring a depth of experience across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, with the confidence to engage directly with clients and stakeholders to deliver exceptional outcomes.
You will be primarily office-based in Brisbane, with occasional site visits, inspections, and client meetings as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Prepare structural engineering designs, detailed calculations, and technical reports across a varied project portfolio
– Provide technical direction in the planning and design of complex structural projects
– Develop concepts, tender, and detailed design deliverables
– Support and review drafting to maintain accuracy and quality
– Contribute to tender submissions and fee proposals
– Utilise and maintain internal project management and reporting systems
– Mentor, supervise, and develop junior and graduate engineers within the structural team
– Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, local authorities, government bodies, and commercial stakeholders
– Prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines without compromising quality or client satisfaction
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
– Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (specialising in structural engineering)
– CPEng and RPEQ qualified, or actively preparing the submission toward these credentials
– Membership of Engineers Australia
– Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering within an Australian consultancy
– Demonstrated knowledge across residential, commercial, reinforced concrete, structural steel, post-tensioned concrete, timber, and masonry structures
– Thorough knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards, and engineering legislation
– Proficiency in structural analysis software and the Microsoft Office suite
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
– Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously
– High attention to detail and sound analytical problem-solving capability
Desirable:
– Experience across civil and geotechnical disciplines (beneficial but not essential)
– Familiarity with project management principles and client-facing business development
